My first career was as a professional dancer and dance teacher. The love of movement has never left me and now manifests in my second career as a ceramic maker. As well as dance and movement, I am fascinated by the vulnerability of the human condition and the notion of belonging and I keep finding overlaps in terms of form and narrative. The ceramics of classical China, and the earthy Japanese ceramics which focuses on materiality, inspire me equally. The tension between refinement and spontaneity is something that infuses my work. This paradox of strength and vulnerability is to my mind true beauty.
